How to save the world.

Lets get started.

 

I analyse things like this?

Q. What’s the problem?
A. Too much CO₂.

Q. What can I do?
A. Tell the Government!

Q. Why aren't they doing anything? They say a lot!
A. They make too much money from Fossil fuels, they are fighting over it. They have also realized that they can get more money by selling water too! Believe it. In fact they have just completed a  Desalination plant in Sydney, Australia. Great….. It runs off Coal fired Power. Now that is really clever……., the Government gets royalties from the Coal and the water. It will produce more CO₂ so it will get hotter, then they can sell more water. Boy, these people are smart ......... Please excuse my sarcasm.

 

The upshot is that I have probably read all documents that have been available over the past 10 years and attended various conferences around the globe. This is to do with all types of Alternative energy. Research papers, patents….. everything. My conclusion is that :

 

Algae is the Only viable solution.

 

All of the research papers point to the same problems with Algae. You need large areas of land. It grows best in controlled conditions.

 

Well there are 6 billion of us spread around the globe so getting enough space isn’t such a problem. Also what if we don’t need land. I immediately thought about growing it in water. Lakes, slow flowing rivers etc. China has 3 million acres of fish farms. After all, isn’t that where it grows now, and we don’t want it there with the fish. So, grow it in containers that float on the water.
YES. That’s it. Simple really. It will grow just the same on land.

 

Now what containers? Actually my design was a bit more elaborate, It was to use giant plastic bags filled with Algae, nutrient and pump in CO₂ , then extract the O₂ and Algae when ready. By controlling the gas in the bags and weighting them adequately they could be raised or lowered under the water, controlling temperature and light. This I am sure will work, but needs money for development. So, no money, what next. Well maybe we can use a common waste product.
